My story

My name is William Noglows, I’m 28 years old, and I am Super Progressive. The origin story of Super Progressive is one I’m proud to tell, so I’ll start from the beginning.

During Covid, I moved to Los Angeles, and during my first week, my older cousin Ned Shepard (he produces and DJs with Sultan as Sultan + Shepard) gifted me an old record box filled with some of his favorite CDs from the 90s. In this record box was about 20 editions of the Global Underground double-box sets, and I immediately fell in love with not only the amazing mixes, but also the stunning photography by Dean Belcher, and of course, Dom Phillips immersive album notes. When I went on YouTube to find out more information about this era of underground electronic music and specifically the history of progressive house, I found next to nothing.

Ned encouraged me to apply my passion for journalism to the history of progressive house, and Super progressive was born. I launched a YouTube Channel and my first series was about the history of Global Underground, and I also created an Instagram where I shared my reviews of different mix compilations I would listen to for the first time. Soon after, Paul Oakenfold invited me to his house for an interview about his Goa Mix, and the rest is history. Since then, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to interview Anthony Pappa, Danny Tenaglia, Sander Kleinenberg, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Tilt, and many other pioneering DJs and producers.

What I didn’t know initially was how passionate progressive house fans are around the world. Instantly, Super Progressive became a place where progressive house fans could reflect on some good memories and share awesome music with each other. As I’ve made more and more genuine connections with followers of my page, I’ve become inspired to do more. And thus, the Super Progressive newsletter was born.

In this newsletter, I am excited to write a long-form article each week. Some articles may be reviews of different mix compilations, others may be interviews with longtime fans who experienced these moments live. No matter the article topic, I will always bring unmatched enthusiasm and unhinged curiosity to each newsletter, so if you would like these articles to be sent directly to your email, all you have to do is subscribe. And it’s all free.
